On February 17, 2010, the Westlake Memorial Foundation bought a 24 acre property on Catoctin Mountain at Five Forks in Frederick County, Maryland, for use by Troop 8 as a rural camp.  It has been six years since the sale of the Troop’s Camp Livingstone, which had been in use since 1930.   The maps below show the location of the camp and some of the adjacent trail network.  The Troop and the Foundation look forward to the expanded opportunities the camp will provide for the education of Scouts in the practice of outdoor skills and conservation.

This map shows the outline of the camp in red, and adjacent trails in colors indicated in the key at top right. Through the goodwill of our neighbors on Gambrill Park Road, we can reach the Catoctin Trail in half a mile. This trail provides access to Frederick Municipal Forest to the south, and to Catoctin Furnace and Cunningham Falls to the north. To the west, The Appalachian Trail near Black Rock is reached over local roads. Using the menu choices at top right, you can change map type, highlight particular features, pan, zoom, etc.
